Some campaigns we created for the NBA
during the eight years we worked with them.
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE
In the 2008 playoff we came up with a campaign that underscores the first rule of competition, is there can only be one team that doesn’t lose to end their season. In the process we created an iconic visual that transcended media platforms and culture itself.
Award Show Video (below) - This is a good synopsis of all the components of the campaign. It's hosted by Stuart Scott (RIP) so it's not too boring to watch.
The Kelly's named this campaign of the decade. Here are a couple executions. Pretty much like thumbnails of the TV, but prettier.
Time magazine and SNL parodied it for the 2008 presidential election.
WHERE AMAZING HAPPENS
The NBA needed some help in redefining the brand in 2007. We came up with a simple, yet honest campaign that changed the way fans looked at the league.
What better way to show how much the league has to offer and how much larger than life it is than to take actual fans on a tour.
This campaign embraces the synergy between music and professional basketball by creating a campaign of ‘mashups’. Partnering with world famous DJ Steve Porter, the campaign utilizes the NBA's exclusive library of video and audio content to create actual songs. After the campaign’s success, SportsCenter hired DJ Porter for weekly segments.
We mashed up static images to compose print and online executions.
We created a campaign demonstrating to consumers that this game of basketball isn’t just a hobby for these players, it’s something they’ve dedicated their ENTIRE lives to.
This campaign was inspired by commissioner Stern when he asked “can’t you do something fun with our giant f$%#ing library of footage!?!” So we did.
UNBELIEVABLE DAVID BLAINE
Steve Nash’s no look passes. Lebron’s monster vertical. Yao Ming’s height. It’s unbelievable things like these, that makes our eyes question if what they are seeing is real or magic. So we hired David Blaine to settle the debate.
POINT OF VIEW
The NBA Playoffs produce amazing moments, create legends and define rivalries. The league wanted to remind fans how amazing it is to witness the plays and the players that become the history of the game. Through a unique perspective of those who've witnessed all these moments firsthand – the basketballs.
